"But the Court did not declare the right to privacy to be an absolute right, and said that a woman's privacy right "must be considered against important state interests in regulation." Thus, Roe has become vulnerable to anti-choice arguments that are based on the belief that…

After recent defeats, what can we expect in the future? And why do politicians feel they can show a complete lack of regard for women's reproductive rights with impunity?

Bring the pro-choice message into your organization. Propose resolutions in favor of public funding for legal abortion and Invite pro-choice speakers. Confront bigoted anti-abortion statements.
Organizing and marching in demonstrations is important. We make and renew friendships; we feel our collective power; the public sees our commitment. It's a long struggle and we need to have fun along the way!
Talk about the issue of abortion whenever it's relevant to the conversation. Share your experiences with family, friends and co-workers; you'll find that many of them have similar experiences. Abortion is a part of women's reproductive lives as much as childbirth, menopause, mammograms or sexuality.
National and State pro-choice advocates keep us and the media informed, and they work to influence law-making. We need to donate to them and heed their calls for collective action. Our local individual and collective actions give them clout when they speak out for choice.
Invite speakers from pro-choice organizations to come to your group. Or, publicize the speaker's bureau of your pro-choice organization. The public needs up-to-date information and insight into the abortion issue.
Your women's group can hold an abortion speakout so that women can come forward and tell their stories. An abortion provider in your area, the N.O.W. group, or women's campus groups are good resources to get a speakout organized. Never underestimate how powerful the sharing of stories in a supportive atmosphere can be.
Most abortion providers welcome community support, especially those that are being beseiged by protestors. Your local provider may have a speaker's bureau; they may need volunteer interpreters for foreign-language-speaking clients. Recognize their contribution to the community.
Your public declaration about your abortion experience can break the silence and end our isolation from each other. It's a personal gift to your sisters!
the state should regulate women's decisions about abortion because the state knows what is good for women. Instead of advancing notions of gender equality over the years, our reproductive rights jurisprudence has become increasingly paternalistic."
